King Arthur Molasses Crumb Cake Recipe

Yield: 6 servings
 
Ingredients
  3  c White whole wheat flour  
  1  c Granulated sugar  
  1  c Butter or margarine (two  
    Sticks)  
  1  c Molasses  
  2   Eggs  
  1  c Hot water  
  1  ts Baking soda  
 
Instructions
 
  1. In a large bowl, mix together flour and sugar. Cut in butter till mixture is crumby. Remove 1 cup of mixture and set aside. To the remaining crumb mixture, add molasses, eggs, water and baking soda. Beat till smooth. Pour batter into a lightly greased 9"x13" pan. Sprinkle reserved crumbs evenly over top. Bake in a preheated 350 oven for 35 to 45 minutes, or until cake tests done.
