Place eggs in a boiler. Add enough water to cover them. Add 1 teaspoon salt. Bring to boil over high heat. Reduce heat to medium and let boil for 5 or 6 full minutes from the time they start to boil.

Remove pot from heat and place it in the sink. Turn cold running water into the pot and let the water run until the water is cool. Let eggs cool under running water a couple of minutes and then crack them all over. When cool enough to handle, leave eggs in the cool water, roll egg between your hands to help loosen shell. Remove shells and discard them.

Nita's Tip: If you start peeling the egg at the large rounded end where it is hollow, you can usually remove the thin membrane/lining of the egg along with the shell. If you can do this, it makes removing the shell a much easier task.

Discard egg shells. Drain water off eggs and prepare as desired. Cover and refrigerate if this is done in advance of need.
