Apple Cake Recipe

Yield: 12 - 16 servings
Delicious Moist Apple Cake will quickly become a family favorite. A super treat when frosted with Caramel Creme Frosting.
 
Ingredients
  1 1/2  cups all purpose flour  
  1  cup whole wheat flour  
  1 1/2  cups sugar  
  1  tsp baking powder  
  1  tsp baking soda  
  1/2  tsp salt  
  1 1/2  tsp cinnamon  
  1/2  tsp nutmeg  
  1 1/2  cups applesauce  
  1/2  cup butter or margarine, melted  
  2  medium eggs  
  1  cup chopped peeled apple  
  1/2  cup chopped walnuts  
 
Instructions
 
  1. Combine dry ingredients in mixer bowl.

 
  2. Add applesauce, butter and eggs.

 
  3. Attach bowl and flat beater tomixer.

 
  4. turn to speed 2 and mix about 1 minute, stop and scrape bowl

 
  5. turn speed to 4 and beat for about 30 seconds

 
  6. Add apple and walnuts

 
  7. turn to stir speed and mix just tuntil blended

 
  8. Pour batter into greased and flowered 13X9X2 inch baking pan

 
  9. bake at 350 degrees F for 35-40 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean

 
  10. Cool completely on wire rack

 
  11. Frost with Caramel Creme frosting if desired

 
  VARIATION
Apple Cake made ahead. Double all ingredients and prepare in a 6 quart mixer bowl. Bake in two pans, enjoy one cake now, freeze the second and frost when ready to serve.
