Instructions |

Mix the first 8 ingredients well and spread out in the bottom of 8-inch square cake pan. Pat down smooth. Mix the 3 ingredients in the (second step) and spread on top of the other mixture. Sprinkle with nuts or place pecan halves neatly.

Second Step: To make the meringue use the egg white from above with 1 cup sifted brown sugar and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla.

Bake at 350° for 30 minutes or until slightly brown.
