Meet me in the kitchen...

My most recent purchases include a KitchenAid mixer and a Food Processor.
The KA is a work horse. If taken care of and not used for over-heavy doughs, it will last a long time. It has made the best creams and meringues. I have yet to try pastry in this...something I'll be learning at school.
Now the food processor is something I'd always wanted. I've made pesto and pureed tomatoes for soup. Both turned out fabulous!
These two machines will be getting a lot of use in the coming months and years!

You don't need a kitchen full of special equipment to make good pastry.

I agree that the kitchen aid mixer is a good investment. I've had mine since 1996, and it's still going as strong now as the day I bought it.

I've always preferrred KitcheAid appiances. I have purchased two KitchenAid dishwashers, too, for two different homes I've had in the past. They are excellent.

I would love to have a Kitchen Aid mixer, but it's a little more than I want to spend right now. I know it's worth EVERY penny, but it's just not a wise purchase right now. It IS on my wish list, though. :)

I have the same problem moneywise with getting one. I have used one though at a friends house and it was awesome. I would highly recommend it just on using it that one time.

I can't wait to get one, although I won't be able to afford it for quite some time. When I get married, it's going on my gift registry!

My sister-in-law got one from her husband the first year they were married. I don't think she's used it more than 4 times. Of course, she's never home, so that might be part of the reason.

I think I'm going to have to start saving for one. I really do want one.

I love my KitchenAid mixer! Sure, it was a big investment, but I think it's paid off, especially around holiday season when I bake loads of cookies. The great thing about it is that you get purchase tons of extra accessories for it.

Like what?

It never occurred to me that there could be lots of accessories. I have a really basic mixer that pretty much just mixes. And my mom doesn't like baking (she loves making just about anything that doesn't require an oven, but won't go near cakes, breads, etc), so I've never really been exposed to the kinds of different accessories out there.

I'm used to the hand mixers. You know the ones - you snap the mixers into them and plug them in.
Hmm, maybe I'll check out these bigger mixer contraptions

I know you can get attachments to use the KA mixer as a grinder, pasta maker, as well as use it for making a good bread dough. I'm not sure what all it can be made to do. All I know is that it's on the top of my list of items I WANT. Not need, want. Of course, it'll be a while before I get one, I'm sure.

I am definitely not very comfortable in the kitchen. So.. those of you who just love the Kitchenaid... can you tell me what you use it for? (besides baking) I typically use a hand mixer, and was wondering what the benefit is of the Kitchenaid.

I am sure there are plenty of benefits... I just don't know what they are!

It's a very good size and also quite powerful, so you have an easier time mixing anything, and it's great for large batches of dough or frosting.

Something like this is on my list of kitchen items I would like to buy. I can't imagine how much time it would save me.

I love kitchen gadgets, but my kitchen is very small, so I really have no room for all of those things.

My kitchen is so small now, I wish I have that too.
